Premature Balding
Premature balding is actually much more common than you may think. While we often associate balding with middle-aged or elderly men, it is becoming much more pervasive in men in their 20s and 30s. Approximately 25% of men in their 20s suffer from premature balding.
Several factors can come into play that lead to premature balding. Genetics may still play an issue in baldness and thinning hair; however, they don't play as large a part as once believed. Other issues such as sickness, an inadequate diet and hormonal changes can also lead to premature balding, though experts now believe that DHT buildup is a chief contributor.
How DHT Factors into Premature Balding
DHT, or dihydrotestosterone, is a conversion of the male hormone testosterone. It can bind to androgen receptors in hair follicles and once it's rested there, it doesn't want to move. As it blocks the hair follicles, it prevents new hair from growing there. At first, weaker hairs will begin to grow through the slighter follicular openings and then over time, hair growth will simply cease.
At Kevis, we help solve the problem of premature balding by addressing this DHT buildup problem. Our products strip away DHT blockages and stop DHT from residing on the hair follicles in the future. Once the problem is removed, new hair growth cycles can recommence and hair can be greatly rejuvenated.
